Inflation in Saarland remains 7 percent

According to the final calculation, inflation was 6.7 percent in July. In April, May and June it had passed 7 percent.

While heating oil prices more than doubled in August, district heating prices rose by almost 80 percent and gas prices by 43 percent. Food cost as much as 13 percent more. For example, bread, like meat, has become more than 15 percent more expensive, according to the agency. Butter was half cheaper than a year ago.

Prices at gas stations were almost 20 percent higher than in the same month last year. Compared to the previous month, however, a decrease of 1.3 percent was recorded.

Guests in restaurants had to pay higher prices for food and drinks than last year (plus 11 percent), as well as for overnight stays in hotels and guesthouses (plus 9 percent). Net cold rents rose by 1.4 percent.
