IDC’s Analysts Have New Figures issued, which looks at global wearables sales in the second quarter of this year. As a result, deliveries fell by 6.9% year-on-year to 107.4 million units, as demand continued to decline due to rising inflation.

The customer is currently keeping their money together instead of spending it on upgrades to existing wearables. However, the top 5 wearable manufacturers remain unchanged: Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and Imagine Marketing.

Rising prices and the parallel decline in demand are also reasons why the global forecast for the wearables sector has since been lowered. IDC now forecasts full-year 2022 deliveries to stagnate at 535.5 million units. However, growth is expected to resume in 2023 as demand for watches and hearables could return due to new buyers in emerging markets and replacements in mature markets.
