Greens criticize the implementation of conservation projects

The Greens see problems with the implementation of the Niedersächsischer Weg nature conservation project. The state government, made up of SPD and CDU, is not making progress on many of the announced protection programs, subsidies and regulations, Green politician Christian Meyer said in Hanover on Tuesday. “The Niedersächsische Weg is actually a good road and we have created very good new laws for nature,” he said. In a statement, Greens in the state parliament complained about the lack of progress in reducing the use of pesticides in agriculture. The fight against species extinction is not progressing.

Green agriculture spokeswoman Miriam Staudte criticized: “Of course, such drastic changes also encounter obstacles. But the state government only takes these hurdles and passively accepts them.”

In the so-called Niedersächsischer Weg, environmental associations, agriculture and the state government have negotiated improvements to the law for species, nature and water protection. This collaboration started a little over two years ago.
