Acer is expanding its Vero series with the Acer Chromebook Vero 514. As is the trend right now, the device is advertised as supposedly durable in terms of materials and workmanship. But what could actually be quite interesting: the Vero 514 would be easy to upgrade, repair, disassemble and recycle.

Studies have shown that manufacturers love the environmentally friendly choice of materials and production, but that this plays almost no role for customers when making a purchase. When it comes to durability, users tend to look for long-term use and easy repair in case of defects. Memory and storage repairs and upgrades are simplified here on the Acer Chromebook Vero 514 by using standard screws on the bottom cover.

The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 has a shockproof housing that meets MIL-STD-810H1 testing standards and protects against drops of up to 122 cm. Inside, you’ll find the 12th generation Intel Core with Iris Xe as the GPU. The fast-charging battery allows the Chromebook to be charged to 50 percent of its 10-hour battery life in just 30 minutes.

The LC display has a diagonal of 14 inches and is optionally equipped with a touchscreen function. It covers 100% of the sRGB color space. In addition, Acer emphasizes the 1080p webcam and speakers with DTS audio. The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 includes WiFi 6E, two ports for USB Type-C, USB 3.2 Type-A and HDMI.

The Acer Chromebook Enterprise Vero 514 is a special offshoot for business customers, providing business users with various ChromeOS business features. So for companies it could be an option.

Prices and availability

The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 (CBV514-1H/T) is expected to be available from November 2022 at recommended retail prices starting at €599.
